It's been a while since my last post. Well, talking about car wash myth, there are several things that pop out from my mind. What I know is that we cannot wash car when its body in hot condition, and there are several things that i've been shared at previous post. you can look for it using search engine I provide at up-right corner. the clues is I did tell several things about how you can wash your car exactly, what is the best condition for your car when you need to wash it, what tools you need for washing the car so that it will not damage a lot to your car, what car care product you need to use, which one is the best and which one is recommended. I wrote about what things can be very useful for your car but very damaging for your car body and paint, find it at april archive. So there a lot others, just find it by yourselves. What I'm going to share today is that there is also a knowledge saying that you better avoid washing your car at early evening or evening. It is because when you wash it at that time, the hidden parts of your car is hard to dry up by itself because the surrounding environment is somehow damp. This will lead to corrosion to your car body. things get worse because parts that have high possibility to get corrosion is the hidden parts and this parts somehow slip away from our attention. Then if you have no other time but evening to wash your car, make sure after you wash your car you are able to run it for at least 30 minutes to dry all the car. you can just drive around your home or whatever. the wind and the heat come from the machine can help your car to dry.

6. Starting Your Car The Wrong Way
It seems simple, but you can make a big difference by turning off your radio, wipers, climate control, all of those accessories, when you start the car. Most of the wear on the engine happens when you start the car, and by turning off those accessories, your engine doesn’t have to work as hard when starting.
Another thing people do is revving the engine in the winter. This actually doesn’t help “warm up” the car. Although it does technically make the engine hotter, it’s not the kind of “warming up” that you want. Revving your engine in the winter causes extreme temperature changes right away, which is actually the opposite of what you want. When you start the car, the oil hasn’t yet worked its way through the system, so the engine is working without lubricant. The right way to do it is just let the car sit and idle for about 30 seconds to a minute at the least.
7. Ignoring Your Car’s Sounds
Every sound your car makes means something, if you pay attention, your car can usually tell you exactly what needs fixing. Those squeaking brakes mean you need new pads, and if you ignore that sound, eventually you’ll hear scraping metal, which means you need new rotors, and if you ignore that, you’ll eventually hear the sound of your own scream as you lose your brakes completely and fly off a cliff in a spectacular fireball of death. It’s more common than you think. Listen to your car.
8. Letting The Interior Go
You’re in a rush again, and you eat most of your disgusting egg and cheese bagel, and toss the rest in the wrapper on the passenger seat. Lovely. You know who you are, your car is filthy, never been vacuumed, 15 air fresheners hang on the mirror, and yet, no air freshener made by mortal man can stop the sickening wind within your car. You need to clean it. If you don’t vacuum your carpets and clean out the garbage every so often, you’ll develop a smell that is impossible to destroy. 9. Running Your Car Down To Empty
There’s actually a bit of a debate about this one. The old wisdom says if your car gets down to E, the sediment in your tank will get sucked into the system and foul your fuel injectors. Although some mechanics says thats not true. Either way, running down to E does pose other problems. You cut the life of the fuel pump considerably, since the fuel actually cools the pump.
Little knowledge for you: Most cars can drive another 60 miles+ after they hit Empty, automakers call this extra gas the “buffer zone”. US cars have the largest “buffer zone” of any vehicles. German drivers, for instance, like to know exactly how much gas in is the car, so their “buffer zone” between the gauge’s E and the actual empty tank is much smaller.
10. Driving Past Attractive Women
Admit it! This is a common mistake, especially if you are male drivers. Attractive women can be incredibly damaging to your vehicle, they can cause the driver to install bizarre over-sized woofers or 22 inch rims, or even spontaneously crash the car into a nearby tree or telephone pole. When you’re driving, be careful to avoid swimming pools, beaches, college campuses, anyplace where beautiful girls assemble in any significant numbers. Your car will thank you.

Being dumb, most people do dumb things, like unknowingly destroy their car. Don't be angry.. Do you agree that you are one among them?
Here I assembled the top 10 everyday things people do that damage their cars, to help guide you through your own stupidity, into the light. Let's check it out.
1. Not Using the Parking Brake
It’s a little pedal near your left leg, or a lever on your right. Yes, that mysterious device that you’ve never used is actually valuable. When you park on an incline, or even on fairly steady ground, without using the parking brake, you’re putting all of the stress of the car on your transmission. The only thing inside that transmission holding your car steady is a little pin called a parking pawl. By using the parking brake, you lock up the non-drive wheels as well as the drive wheels and take the stress off of the transmission. It will add years of life to your cars transmission. Just remember to disengage it before you start driving again otherwise it will become your new stupidity.
2. Not Coming to A Complete Stop Before Shifting
So you’re in a rush, and you pull out of a parking space and shift into drive while the car is still coasting backwards. You’ve just added months of wear to your transmission in seconds. Inside your transmission is a complex set of gears, when you shift without stopping like that, you’re asking those gears to work as your brakes, which puts an amazing amount of stress on such a small area. You can also damage your drive shafts, the things that send power to the wheels, by shifting that way. After a while, it will lead to sloppy suspension handling, and a worn out transmission.
3. Riding The Brakes Down A Hill
If you are driving on a hill that goes on for a while, you’ll want to avoid riding the brake the whole time. Alternate between braking and letting off the brake so you don’t heat up and wear out your brake pads. It’s a common mistake, because it feels like the safest way to maneuver down a hill, but if the hill is sufficiently long, you can end up almost totally wearing out your pads, since as they heat up, they wear faster.
4. Forgetting To Change The Oil
You need to change your oil every 5,000 miles at the most. That’s really all there is to it. I actually read a source that said you can wait until your oil light comes on to change your oil. Do you know.. by the time your oil light comes on, the oil inside your engine has turned into jet black molasses and is of no use to your engine. In the short term, I suppose it’s not that important, but more frequent changes can actually double the life of your car and greatly increase its performance.
5. Pressure Washing The Engine
I can respect a person’s desire to want a clean engine. It gets grimy under there and a guy with a pressure washer is a dangerous thing for grime - you want to point it at anything even slightly dirty. But a grimy engine that runs right is better than a clean engine that doesn’t run at all. And if you spray a high powered jet of water around rubber seals and hoses and electrical bits, you’re bound to dislodge something important. A modern engine is a complex thing, all manner of sensors and wiring harnesses and components, and it’s no place for a jet of high pressure water. A regular garden hose is OK if you want to wash it down, just be careful with the high pressure business.

But the machine will not stop even you shift the transmission to neutral mode when the machine temperature has not reach the working temperature, charging the battery has not optimal yet, or the Air-Conditioner is not in its desire temperature that has been set.
The engine also will not start even you put it to first gear when you haven't use the seatbelt. This system can be turned off using the button on the dashboard.
-Intelligent Alternator Control and Brake Energy Regeneration
This system use the kinetic power that come out when you decelerate or braking. The power then use to charge the battery. When acceleration, back to alternator that charge the battery. But the alternator will work only when the battery need to charge. This system will decrease the load of the engine.
-Active Aerodynamics
The airflow for radiator is the big air barrier for the car besides it is so important for cooling. BMW designed the Air Vent Control System in front of radiator that will only open when the engine need fresh air. when the ventilation is closed, the air barrier will decrease significantly so that the car will become more aerodynamic.

For the diesel engine, it has the combination of power, efficient gas consumption, and smooth vibration. The turbo set guarantee the acceleration without turbo lag. In fact, this machine can reach to 5000rpm.
-Tyre with Reduced Rolling Resistance

5. re-setting the height level of the light that the headlamp produce especially when you change the bulb become HID xenon. It is because different bulb has different filament distance which will effect the height level of the light.

Types of Shock Absorber

In common, there are 2 types of shock absorber which is oil shock-absorber and gas shock-absorber. Oil shock-absorber more comfortable compare to gas shock-absorber. Gas shock-absorber not contains 100% gas, it has oil act as the lubricant. To differentiate oil and gas shock-absorber when you want to purchase it, you can press the stalk. If it is oil type, the stalk will not back to the position when you press it down. The stalk that can go back to its previous position will definitely gas shock-absorber.
Some aftermarket shock-absorbers have double action type. This means the shock-absorber will faster the rebound action but this type of shock-absorber will wear out faster. Double action and single action shock-absorber is just talking about the percentage between the compress action and rebound action. Single-action shock-absorber has the ratio of 40% compress and 60% rebound.. Double-action is the vice versa. The higher the percentage, the more the action can hold-up. So when rebound action, spring will be helped by shock-absorber and it make the car back to its position faster.
Base on the design, shock-absorber have monotube and twin-tube design. For the car that giving high priority for comfortability and durability, twin-tube is the best choice. The more you give pressure for the twin-tube shock-absorber, the higher the hardeness level. Should You Wash Your Own Car?

Look at the title and what would you say. This is an "always have pro and contra" question. wash car is a must when you own one. But the problem is some people like to wash his car himself. others likely to spent the money and get the car wash by the specialist. This always been an argument.
Some people who pro that it is wise to have your car clean by specialist say that..
- Time is money. Why wash the car ourselves when we have the specialist who can do it for us. our time is more precious compare to do such a thing. Spent your money to let them wash it for you because your time is worth more than the money. The idea is talking about if the car wash about 1 hour than if you let it wash by specialist for take an example 3 dollars, using that time you can earn up to 3 dollars so you should not spent that time doing less worthy thing.
- Why put yourselves in trouble buying car care things. Let the specialist do it. They have all of it and what you need to do is just give them couple of money.
- We don't have the washing car ability like them. The specialist just know the procedure. (So you need to read this blog article and you will know everything hehe..)
- Lazy. You can use that time doing another comfortable stuff. (not a nice reason isn't it?)
- Too much steps and it is hard to do it all by one people who is me myself. the specialist is the right choice.

(This is probably the operator of car wash specialist problem, we can change to another specialist but I think you cannot depend a lot as they just wash your car, without any feeling, not the same when you do it yourself.)
- Who wash the car during work hours? We wash it when we have leisure time in the weekend, when we have nothing to do.
- for those who are interested in car detailing, they like to converting their leisure time into washing and polishing their lovely car. that time is priceless for them. They could chat for a day just talking about it with friends that have same interest.
- Some people a lot more sensitive. They say "My car is my wife. I will not let other people wash it".

3 Steps for Car Paint Detailing

When you are in weekend and have nothing to do, maybe you would think about put some effort of caring your car as it always help you to do several task in your life. you use it anytime you go to anywhere especially when talking about distance that you can't done without driving. So the well-known way to care the car is make the exterior as shiny as new car. There are well-known 3-steps that will make your car looks shiny which is cleansing, polishing, and waxing. A lot of car care product come with package for this 3 step. One of them is meguiars. Its step-1 product is "Meguiars Deep Crystal System Cleaner", step-2 is "Meguiars Deep Crystal System Polish", and step-3 is "Meguairs Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax". Other manufacturers also give package like that and just using different name.
Step-1. Cleansing

A lot of waxing product in market, you should know which one is the best. I recommend waxs that are using carnauba substance. Carnauba is a natural wax from the leaves of the Carnauba Palm in northern Brazil. It has a natural ability to retain oil, will not react with paint, and has excellent gloss properties. In its original state, carnauba is hard, so it must be mixed with oils or chemicals to soften it. (Manufacturers use various softening methods). Carnauba wax produces a very hard film to protect your car painting. Some brands such as Turtle Wax Hard Shell Car Wax includes polymers-designed to fill in minute scratches in the clear-coat layer. Ways to Remove Old Wax from Your Car

People asking how to remove old wax from car when it is the time to re-wax the car. Here I got several ways from friends, but me myself always re-wax my car after washing the car 5 or 6 times. In average I wash my car once a week. I just directly re-wax it. But when I get a little bit extra time I will do the polishing then waxing after washing the car. We know there are 3 steps in maintaining car exterior, look at 3 Steps for Car Paint Detailing. But I will do the first step if only my car need it because It is not really good for car painting. So here is some several steps when you want to remove old wax before applying a new one. To be honest, I Haven't try all of them so if you really need it just go with the way or use my way.
1. Use the dishwashing liquid
Some people use the dishwashing liquid. It is logic thing as dish washing liquid really remove all the dirt, fat, grease, etc. That's why we use it for dish. So we can say wax is substance that contain high grease. So it is logically very possible if dishwashing liquid could remove the old wax. But I recommend you to directly do waxing after you wash your car. If no, Can you imagine your skin at hot place without any conditioner. That's is how our car without waxing after you wash using the liquid.
2. Paint Cleansing Lotions
This could be product such as P21s, Pinnacle, etc. I think this is the safest way because manufacturers claim one of their product ability is to remove old wax and protecting your paint and make it ready for waxing procedure. So may you use this method to remove the old wax. Me myself not use this product because it will be too much bottle of car care product at my garage. Can't hold it.
3. Paint Abrasive Polishes / Swirl Removers
Some of the product is 3M, Menzerna, Meguiar's, etc. This is same with polishing which has a little abrasive characteristic for the paint.
4. Paint Preps ---
Such as 3M, Detro, Klean-Strip Prep-All, etc. Just another one of the ways. A liitle bit the same with paint cleansing lotions, it make your car painting ready to be waxing with new wax.
5. AIO Waxes
Some of them are Meguiar's, Zymol, Mothers, etc. AIO or All In One waxes like to claim that they are multi-purpose cleaner. However I think this is just the same with my way which is directly re-wax the the old-wax.

-Pugs are tons of fun
Pugs are lots of fun and they love doing silly things in order to get your attention. Most Pugs don’t even mind parading around in crazy outfits, and that’s probably why some call them ”the clowns of the animal kingdom”.
-Pugs are intelligent
Pugs are a lot more intelligent than they look (Thank God!) and they are fast learners when it comes to things that excite them. For instance, figuring out how to get to the cookies on the table is usually a piece of cake for any Pug. They are also fast learners when it comes to figuring out how to best get your attention. Some say that Pugs are hard to train, and sure, some Pugs might be. However, with a healthy portion of patience from you and lots of yummy treats, Pugs can learn lots of great tricks.

Another Tips for Free-Fungus Windshield

Maybe some of u already read the Tips for Free-Fungus Windshield in my previous post. if you haven't read it, click on the link or else use the search column at the right-hand side to find it. I stated there that i'm gonna clean my windshield. But actually I just did it yesterday because the time not allow me to do it last time. Yesterday is a holiday for my country because it celebrates occasion which is "Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW". That's not the point, the point is I'm doing some car care for my car. One of them was cleaning the windshield. But i didn't using the fungus-cleaner. This is what i'm gonna share with you. Fungus-cleaner is very harmful for car paint and you should really careful when apply it to your windshield. Some days ago I have information that I forgot where I get from. It stated that we can use toothpaste to substitute the fungus-cleaner. Hey, this make me just grab the toothpaste and no need to buy the fungus-cleaner. Everyone have toothpaste at his home. I'm not post this matter last time because I will not post something that is not proven. Well, the result when I apply the method is it able to substitute fungus-cleaner eventhough fungus-cleaner is more powerful. But I recommend this method as it is cheaper and safer. Why safer, because fungus-cleaner strongly recommended that the substance must not touch your car paint. But the toothpaste, when I apply to windshield, it touch the car paint a little bit. I just aware it when it dry. and when I wipe it using towel. It didn't leave any spot. But however I recommend you to use exactly the same procedure with when you want to aplly it using fungus-cleaner. Ah, others is that because toothpaste doesn't have really strong substance compare to fungus cleaner, it will not easily show the scratch in your windshield. However if your windshield has a lot of scratch, it is wisely not to do fungus cleaner as it will disturb you more compare to when fungus is your problem. How to Count Your Car Fuel Consumption

How you count your car fuel consumption? Is it the right way? I join several forum, read several magazine, and have a chat with several people. And every time when we chat, when we are talking about car fuel consumption. There will always some people talk "Oh, I fill my car fuel two times a week", then the other people says, "Ah, mine has better fuel consumption. I have my car fuel refill one time a week."....
Stop!! How we know that his car really get better fuel consumption? There are a lot of condition may different from two of them. who knows how many mile they are taking for a week. Also, who knows how many liter of fuel they fill to the car when they go to pump station.
But still there are people use this method to compare their car fuel consumption everytime. We should know the correct procedure for counting our car fuel consumption. The way is easy. Full your car with fuel, make sure you can see the fuel with your eyes so that you can mark it on your mind. then reset the trip meter to 0. Now, have your trip.. enjoy.. until the time you need to fill your car again. lets say you go for 298km. Go to pump station to have your car filled. make it full and exactly the same level with the previous time you fill your car, you can remember the mark, isn't it? lets say you fill for 28.6liter. Now get the KM divide with liter. So, 298km/28.6ltr= 10.419. It means your car consumpt 1 liter when it goes for 10.419km. Got it? People usually state it 1:10.419 or 1:10.5. Simple isn't it? Now you can use this method rather than other methods.
Some car equip with MID that able to count the fuel consumption for you. In my experience, it can get different result when MID count the fuel consumption with the method I stated. The tolerance is 5-10%. So if you count your car have 1:10.5. The MID may show 1:10, 1:9.5, or 1:11.5. This different because sometimes air is trapped inside the fuel tank and we don't know how much air inside. This make the method has somehow tolerance for 5-10%. The MID also can make mistake in counting fuel consumption. there are 2 ways for MID to count the fuel consumption. First is they put sensor inside the fuel tank and the second way is they put sensor at the pipe that go to combustion chamber. sensor at the pipe is more accurate as it count the fuel goes out. Different with sensor at fuel tank, it count the fuel consumption by detect the level of fuel inside the fuel tank. this could be inaccurate as when the car move, the fuel will shake.

- Or do you have ever felt the steer often thrown away and difficult to be controlled? If yes, This is one of the effect that your shock absorber has ”death”.
- See the physical condition of shock absorber. If you find it has oil on it, it means leaks on the housing and you need to change it.
- press downwards the car body near the suspension several times. If the sway doesn’t stop immediately, then prepare to buy new shock absorber.
You have various choices to substitute your old shock absorber. You can choose original component from factory standard, aftermarket product precisely with standard, shock absorber having special specification such as for racing or comfort, or rebuilt shock absorber. Of course the price differs from one to another. Usually from my experience, shock absorber aftermarket which is precisely with standard can be cheaper than original component from factory standard. But this doesn’t mean decreasing in quality. In fact, some of them have higher quality. This because of the parts price of car manufacturer tends to be higher. They get benefit from people perception that their parts are design specially for the car and the aftermarket quality is somehow questionable and not really compatible with the car. Some people do not want to get confuse in searching for aftermarket product. Just compare when we do treatment for our car in manufacturer workshop with when we do it at external workshop. The price is different and manufacturer workshop will be costly. Besides, shock absorber having special specification have various prices depends on the brand. But usually they are more expensive compared to standard shock absorber. The cheapest one is shock absorber rebuilt. This is shock absorber which had broken down and modified in such a method so that it can be use again. Of course the price is very cheap however I don't recommend it because its questionable quality and it is impossible to have quality like before.

At car means if the coat of the body which is the paint peel off, the rust will come out. sometimes the peel is invisible but the air that contains O2 able to make a contact with the iron. Microfiber is used for the finishing of the waxing process. It is to wipe away the residue of the waxing, some people also use it to apply the wax . Microfiber also use for finishing process of washing car. It means you used it after dry your car with chamois. It able to wipe the remaining water away from your car. People used to call it detailing cloth because it usually use for the last step of car care. Actually it can substitute the chamois work which is dry the car from the beginning but it will not recommended as the absorbing ability of microfiber is far below chamois. Microfiber can be wash up to 300 times. After that, usually the structure will be in disorder, hardened, and the ability to absorb and trap dust will decrease. This is the time to replace it with the new one. Keep in your mind that it is not recommended to wash the microfiber using detergent or softener as it may harm the polyester structure. When it has spot of dirt and it is not easy to remove, just use warm water. and due to its strong structure, you can put it below the sun to dry it.
Microfiber structure is different with usual cloth. The fiber is very smooth, if you want to compare it, it is about 100 times smoother than your hair. Microfiber that we use for car care contain 30% of nylon and 70% of polyester. So how we choose microfiber? The easiest way is to feel it using your hand-palm. If it give you feeling like it hook your palm, then it is definitely a microfiber. Then you must note that for reducing the cost, some microfiber manufacturer replace the polyester material with cotton. To identify it, pull the yarn. Microfiber that use polyester material is hard to pull because its strong structure far in front of cotton material. That is also why microfiber that use polyester material stiffer that cotton material. Others, when you pull out the yarn, cotton material will have soft fur with it. It is cotton fiber that fall off when you pull it. When you do detailing on your car, that soft fur will remain on your car. Not nice right? also, because of this soft fur is the main fiber of cotton and it is easily fall off, the microfiber ability to trap dust will fast decrease. Usually microfiber with polyester material is more expensive.
Besides, microfiber for car care divided into two which is for interior and exterior. For interior, it has specific plaited mats so it can easily trap the dust that hide within the fabric or leather material. Usually it is pointed structure like hill, so the dust will easily go to the valley of the microfiber. You cannot use this kind of microfiber for exterior as it may scratch your car body. Optimize Your Car Automatic Transmission Into the Feeling of Manual Transmission

Car population increasing from year to year. Several countries experienced the traffic jam problem. In such situation, manual transmission is not a wise choice anymore. You will get exhausted easily playing the clutch when you're at traffic jam with your manual transmission car. Manual transmission give you a nice driving experience while Automatic transmission give you a relax driving. But nowadays due to rapid growth in technology, automatic transmission able to let you feel the manual transmission driving experience. What you need is to optimize your car Automatic transmission. When you need a relax driving, simply put the transmission to D. But if you want manual transmission feel, here is the tips. If you driving a 4-speed A/T (Automatic Transmission), usually they have P, R, N, D, 2, L or P, R, N, D, 2,1 or whatever but it is the same. It just using a different name. the idea is that L or 1 for go upwards road or very low speed because the transmission locked in gear-1 or speed-1. Then 2, the transmission locked in gear-2 or speed-2 by means it can use up to gear-2 only. So if it is in stop condition and you put it to 2, it will start using gear-1 and then move to gear-2 in certain speed but will not move to speed-3. Then if you put the transmission to D, switch off the overdrive (refer to your manual book where is the overdrive button at your car, usually at the shift knob), the transmission locked in gear-3. When you switch the overdrive on, the transmission will use up to its final gear which is gear-4. So you can control the gear and able to boost the RPM higher and reach the maximum torque.

Nowadays, manufacturer realize this problem and usually they equip the car with A/T that can shift the gear manually but without the clutch. Not all the car, some car mostly city car still using the "traditional" 4-speed A/T by concerning the cost of production. Some of the example for modern A/T is Tiptronic Transmission, Shiftronic Transmission, and Steptronic Transmission. Usually they have another position for shifting the gear, look at the picture. Or some of them give the shift at the steer or what we call paddleshift. Another option is sport mode, some of car equip it. Press the sport button on or shift to the sport mode to activate it. how it works is just the same with usual A/T but it will move to higher gear in higher RPM than usual D mode, take an example if your car transmission move to higher gear at 2,500RPM, then when you activate the sport mode, it will maybe move to higher gear when the Rpm reached 3,500 or 4,000.
I want to share Honda Jazz A/T first edition at my country, some of country call it Honda Vitz. I don't know whether it applied same A/T with your country. Honda use intelligent A/T for Honda Jazz. Honda called it CVT 7-speed. It has usual P, R, N, D, S, L. Yes, it change the 2 to S which is Sport mode. "So we can't shift like what explain above?" Hey, what for? Honda equip paddleshift which is you can move the gear using button on the steer. But it has 7-speed. Not a real 7-speed, but it is virtual 7-speed, so when you shifting using paddleshift, you can shift the gear until speed-7. Look at the picture. So if you own Honda Jazz, you can choose D mode for relax driving, S mode for better driving experience, or you can using paddleshift and shift the gear anytime you want.

Car Brake Technology - ABS, EBD, BA

ABS which is abbreviation of Anti-lock Braking System was first introduced at aircraft industry. When an aircraft landing, it needs the turbine force power and the brake to stop. The brake should in full power. the landing will be success if the aircraft tire has enough traction. When the landing way is wet or it has snow on it, full power braking will make the tire locked because it lose the grip. Imagine how terrible an aircraft sliding in such landing high speed! That's why people invent ABS System. When people feel the benefit and effectiveness of this system, ABS also applied as safety option in the automotive industry especially for the four wheel vehicle.

Last time, ABS system was just the option for luxury car. But nowadays, it become a must option for almost every car. Recently there are 2 system of ABS, which is system that apply ABS for all the 4 wheel and ABS that apply only at the 2 rear wheel. 4 wheel ABS is better as 2 wheel ABS not giving optimum performance, the front wheel still has possibility to slide that make the car hard to control.
From this ABS, people also invent EBD and BA aystem. EBD (Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution) distribute brake power in accordance with the needs of each tire and BA (Brake Assist) helps ABS to work optimal.
Let see how ABS system works. When you press the brake hard, the system will detect just before the tire lose it grip. Then automatically the brake piston release its force to let the tire run and having the grip back with road, then it will press the brake hard again. This happen very fast, average 15 times a second. This system make hard shake at your brake pedal. So, if you see the article i wrote, A Glance with Your Car Brake, you will find the technique I state there for non-ABS car is the same with how the ABS system works. However, this system has its disadvantage, when you drive your car to gravel road, the gravel will make the sensor detect that the tire is losing the grip and activate the system. Actually you don't need the system because you are not losing the grip. the working system is just make the braking ineffective and longer the braking distance.
So, this is several point of ABS system:
-ABS not shorten the brake distance, it just make it effective when the tire lose its grip.
-To activate ABS, you should press the brake pedal fast and hard.
-Brake pedal will shake hard when ABS works, it is normal.
-You still can turn (control) your car when ABS works.
-ABS will disturb the braking system when it is in off-road or gravel road.
-You can shut down ABS by unplug the fuse.
-When ABS inactive, the ABS warning light at dashboard instrument panel will light.

Car Wash - Why? Why? Why?

I wrote car wash procedure in Car Wash - Correct Procedure. Some people asking why I state there is a must procedure but I give no explanation about it. Well here I will give the explanation. But before you read it, better for you to refer to previous article about Car Wash - Correct Procedure if you haven't read it.
- Put your car at sun-free place or the body of the car should not in hot condition.
The point is that the car body cannot in hot condition because when you hose the car with water, the sudden change in temperature will make the car body having some expansion that will harm the car paint. Sudden change temperature also harm the paint substance itself. Hot body will make the water dry easily itself. self-dry water is not good as it can leave watermark / spot in your car body. Others, hot condition of the car body also make the waxing process not maximal.
- Never let the shampoo dry itself on your car body and always use car shampoo.
It will make the paint paler because the substance of the shampoo react with your paint when it dry itself. This happen eventhough you use the car shampoo. Hose the water thoroughly after completely wash the car will ensure your car body free from shampoo. Using a non car-shampoo is not good for the paint because the shampoo not in balance Ph. it will directly have reaction with the car paint that make the paint paler in long-term. Car-shampoo have a balance Ph.
- Never use the brush for the underneath of the car.
Most of car has rust-proof layer in its underneath. If you brush it, the layer has the possibility to peel off. Just wash it using hard sponge.
- Don't leave your car in wet condition too long.
It will leave spot if it dry-itself. fungus will also easily appear on the surface. Other problem is water can trap dust, when it trap the dust and you wipe it using chamois or towel, the paint have high possibility being scratched.

A Glance With Your Car Brake

Last night, when I drive myself to a friend's house I saw a human error accident in front of my eyes. Because not keeping distance, two motorcycles crush. I turn to see it when I heard a huge "Bang!!" voice come from my right side. The time I saw it is one motorcycle owner in its motorcycle collapsed down and the other rolling to the side of the road because the crush impact push him away. Luckily there are no other car or any vehicle drive from that road side otherwise we can imagine how if the vehicle crush that rolling man. What make me want to write this article is when the crush accident, there is a car, a non-ABS old car drive in high speed right behind them get shocked, press his brake as strong as possible. but what make me impressive is when the tire locked (tire can lose its grip with the road when you press your brake too hard at sudden time), in such panic situation, he able to make the tire get its grip again and stop the car before crush the motorcycle.

Based on this story I want to share some knowledge I know about the car brake when we meet such situation. It is easy if your car is new car, have ABS, EBD, and what so on technology equip with its brake. You just need to press the brake as hard as you can, the technology will help you. How the technology works? I tell you in next article (I'm afraid this article become too long if we explain it now). But when this technology works in your car, you wil find that your brake shaking, don't get surprise and release the brake. This is how the technology works. So what you need is just press it as strong as possible otherwise you will crush the subject in front of you.

What I want to share here is when you own a non-ABS car and meet this panic situation. How you stop the car. Here it is, first of course press the brake strongly, when you feel the tire lose its grip release the brake a little bit, just a little bit until you feel the tire gets its grip back. the tire will get it in very short time so act quickly, press the brake strongly again, when the tire lose its grip again, release it a little bit again, when you feel the grip come back press hard again. do it again and again until your car stop. It will just like you shake your car brake. Note that this will happen very fast. How fast is it? Average will be 5-10 times shaking in one second. I'm not telling you to count it. It just when you do the right procedure it will be average about 5-10 times a second. What is needed here is how you feel the grip of your tire. Now hopefully what I share can help you when you need it. You can do a little exercise so will get used to the technique.

Choose The Most Suitable Engine-Oil for Your Car

Some of us confuse about what should we use for our engine oil because a lot of specification listed there. We should not confuse because it help us to pick up the most suitable oil for our car engine. What we need is just to understand what is the meaning of the specification. Here are several things that can become reference. You must know the characteristics of your car such as the engine specification and the environment in which you usually drive your car (temperature, climate, dust, etc).

Viscosity-Grade was the measurement of the viscosity and the lubricant capacity to flow on the certain temperature, this is the most important priority in choosing oil. The identification code of oil is "SAE" letter, abbreviation from Society of Automotive Engineers. The figure that followed behind shows the level of the viscosity of this oil, SAE 40 or SAE 10W-40. The thick the oil, The bigger the figure that followed the oil code. Whereas the W letter that is after the beginning figure, was the abbreviation from winter.
SAE 10W-40, meant this oil had viscosity level of SAE 10 for the cold temperature (with such condition, the oil will give the optimal protection during the machine start), meanwhile in the hot condition whereas it is machine working temperature, ideally oil will work in the range of the viscosity figure 40 according to the SAE standard.
The quality of the oil is shown using API(American Petroleum Institute) being followed by the letter behind. API: SL, the S code (spark) indicated the machine lubricant for gasoline. The second letter code showed the quality of oil, the more the letter approaching the Z letter the more quality it has to covering the component of the machine with the layer of the film and the more suitable with the requirement for the modern machine.
SF/SG/SH - generally suitable for the vehicle machine that was produced in year range of 1980-1996
SJ - generally suitable for the vehicle machine that was produced in year range of 1996-2001
SL - generally suitable for the vehicle machine that was produced in year range of 2001-2004
Pay attention whether the lubricant (the oil) is used for gasoline engine, diesel engine, industrial equipment or others. In order to choose the quality of the appropriate lubricant, we could refer to API service (America Institute Petroleum), JASO (Japan Automotive Standard Association), ACEA (Association Des Construteurs Europeans d'Automobiles), Din (Deutsche Industrie Norm), and several others. Those are certificate for the performance of the lubricant based on the standard from the independent international agency of the lubricant industry.
All Engine oil whether it is mineral or synthetic oil has its own API Standard. mineral oil is usually made from the results of refining, whereas oil synthetic is from results of the substance-mixture. usually the main Substance of synthetic oil is PAO (PolyAlphaOlefin). So, The quality of API SL for mineral oil is not the same with the API SL for synthetic oil. Usually synthetic oil is suggested for the machines that adapt new technology (turbo, supercharger, dohc, etc), also that needed better lubrication (racing) where the gap between metal/part is smaller/narrower/more precision where only synthetic oil could cover and flow perfectly between each part. Synthetic oil is not suggested for the machines that adapt old technology because the gap between part is very big or we can say bigger compare to newest technology machine so you will find the engine oil quantity decreased faster than usual operation should decrease. It is because the oil go/enter inside the combustion chamber and taking part for being burnt so the oil decrease faster and the muffler rather smookey as the result for the burnt oil.

Car Wash - Correct Procedure

Many of people think that washing car is a simple thing.. get the shampoo, sponge, rag/towel, water.. done! Is it just as simple as that? It is not!
You will not see the side effect in the very short term. But quickly around a year you will find your car painting become very old. It just not represent the actual year of the car.
"I wash my car like this everytime, no effect in my car paint. It shine until today."
It is because you without deliberate do the right procedure. However you need to know what is good and what is bad procedure when you do washing ritual. So i will not saying that you are "without deliberate do the right procedure" anymore.
So, here is the procedure..
Firstly, prepare water hose of course with its water from tap, chamois, towel (the best is microfiber towel, you can easily find it at store), sponge, harder sponge for underneath of the car, car shampoo, bucket, brush for your tire, and toothbrush.
after that put your car at sun-free and dust-free place. the body of your car cannot be hot, such as it cannot just at below of the sun shine or it cannot just for use because the hot temperature of the machine will spread to the metal sheet above it which is the car bonnet. Hose all of the car body with water to eliminate the dirt that can be easily remove. Apply the shampoo from the top part until below. Do it part by part, such as if you apply shampoo for the roof then after that Hose it with water directly. This action is to prevent the shampoo to dry itself. You can make it become 2 or 3 parts in one time as long as you not let the shampoo dry itself on your car body. Then go to the tire part. Use the hard sponge and shampoo for the underneath part. Never use brush to clean the underneath part. Then use brush only at the tire. Remove the pebbles if it is seen on the thread of the tire. Use sponge for the rim. You can use toothbrush for some of the car part that hard to clean like the grill or the emblem. After that, Hose all of the car body thoroughly for the last time. Dry it with chamois immediately, do not leave your car in wet condition too long. After that use towel to make sure the car body is dry enough.
That's it! with this procedure, you eliminate lots of side effects during car washing. Good Luck!

Tips for Free-Fungus Windshield

Recently, I have been confusing about my car windshield. It just because I want my car make me as convenience as it can. When I drive, the view is not really contrast. The matter get worse when I drive my friend's new car. His gets clear and contrast windshield. Surely I know the action is needed for this problem.
No other problem in my windshield but fungus. Yup! It is hard for you to see that it has fungus especially when you view it from exterior. It just like another car, shiny and smooth windshield. But slowly you will feel their (fungus) existence when you compare it with other car or when the view is getting worse and disturb you.
Let me take you to little briefing about the fungus. The point is that the windshield and other glass material in your car is just like skin of human beings. It also need to be moist. The fungus appear when the glass lack of care. The main factor for fungus appearance is because oxidation or the muffler deposit from bad combustion, especially when the muffler smoke contaminated by engine oil.
Now before clean the windshield there is several point you must keep in your mind:
- Use the proper cleaner for your windshield or else it can appear fogging. Why? As I mention, the glass is just the same with skin of human beings. Fogging can occur if the glass dry. so avoid over high concentrate cleaner such as fungus cleaner for household glass. It swipe away the conditioner surface in your windshield. Also avoid cleaner that has kerosene substance. The best way is buy the fungus cleaner for the car glass so you will out from this problem.
- Keep in your mind that the glass material in your car especially the windshield that ever been scratch (i.e. windshield scratch by dry up wiper) will be clearly seen (the scratch) compare with before you clean the fungus.
- Beacuse of the high-concentrate of the cleaner, avoid the contact of the cleaner with anything in your cars's body. It can leaves spot on it.
- Always read the usage instruction of the fungus cleaner.
Now here is the steps to clean up the fungus from your car:
1. Prepare the fungus-cleaner, small painting brush, chamois, cotton rag, glove for yourself, and small container for the cleaner.
2. Put your car at the dust-free and sun-free place. The dust particle will make small scratch if trapped into the rag or chamois during the cleaning process.
3. Wash your car and dry it.
4. Apply the fungus-cleaner to your windshield using the brush. Do not press, just slowly apply it. Remember toavoid the cleaner touch the other panel of the body.
5. After apply process, wipe it with chamois.
6. Wipe it neatly using the rag. Make sure to wipe out all the cleaner as it will leave spot if it dry itself.
7. Look at the glass or windshield thoroughly. If it still has fungus (the best way is you see it from inside your car through outside)then repeat step 4 - step 7 until the glass free of fungus.

Swipe Away Engine Overheat

Moreover if you ever filled your car with well water or plumbing that had high content of the element of metal. the pile of rust will plug the grill of the radiator. 3. Turn on the engine to throw water that was trapped in the machine, while paying Attention to the temperature indicator of the machine. Turn off the machine when the indicator shown the normal temperature.
4. Closed the disposal hole of the radiator or the hose of the underside radiator. Make sure it is tighten perfectly to avoid water flown away.
5. Fill the radiator with water and coolant mixture until full.
6. Turn on the machine so that water able to circulate into the machine.
7. Add more coolant if the surface of water seen decreased.
8. Pay attention to the water until there were no bubble come from the hole mouth.
9. Closed the radiator hole.
10. Discarded the air that remained in vehicle that equipped with air disposal.

Therefore, to check the oil level of your car you must first make sure the engine is turned off; and always carry out the check when the engine is cool. The best time is at the morning when the machine is turned off for several hours. Look at the engine oil dipstick at the machine, remove it and wipe the end-tip to remove the oil. then put it in its place deeply (the tube where you pull out the dipstick for the first time) and pull it out. There will be new oil marked in the dipstick. Look at it, the oil level cannot below the marked that already stated in the dipstick. If it is not on its level. top-up the oil is required.

Tyres are another important part of your car that require constant monitoring. Use the tips to prevent the damage from spreading until you can get it repaired.
Cold Weather Tips!
1. Do not turn on the defroster because the sudden heat from the defroster will cause the damage to spread.
2. Do not use a ice scrapper on the windshield when it has ice on it.
3. Do not pour hot water on the windshield because this will have the same affect as the defroster.
Another tip! Do not use Rain X or any protectant on the glass until you get the damage repaired! This can contaminated the break and might not repair properly!

The owner's manual also suggests an oil change every 3,750 if you drive it hard. Enough said. I think we all know which of these recommendations to follow.
Properly Gapped Spark Plugs
The proper spacing for a 2002 - 2003 Subaru WRX is 0.028"-0.031" (0.7-0.8 mm). If you have a different year of Subaru WRX, refer to your owner's manual for proper specs. This tip may seem a bit petty, but any extra power that can be had for free is worth the time and effort.
Clean Your Air Filter

Pay Attention for Your Car Tire Tread Depth!

Some people don't understand Why we need to check the depth of tire tread. Tire tread is what keeps your tires on the road. When driving in rain or snow, the tread of the tire is designed to throw the water or snow out from underneath the tires so that you do not lose control of your vehicle due to hydroplaning. You should check your tire tread depth every 6,000 to 8,000 miles or if you are using kilometres than it should be 10,000 to 13,000 km. You can check your tire tread depth by using a tread depth gauge for a more accurate measurement or you can perform a quick check by using daily stuff such as needle.

The first and most reliable method is to use a tire tread depth gauge. Once you have obtained a tread depth gauge, just follow the directions for the product to get the instrument ready for measuring. You should check the tread in several places from the outer edge of the tire, to the center, to the opposite outer edge of the tire for an overall reading. The tread should be 2/32 inch (the exact should be 0.0625 inch or else 0.1587 cm) deep or more. If you live in areas where snow is common or you often drive on roads that tend to gather standing water during rainy day, you may want to consider having more tread to help move your tires through the rain or snow.

The second way to check tire tread depth is through the use of daily stuff. Yes, whatever! Take an example, we use a needle. What you need to do is just mark the needle for the depth around 2/32-inch. Then, to check the tread depth with the needle hold the needle with your thumb and index finger. Insert the needle into the grooves between the tread and make sure that you have the sharp point facing you, it is better. If the tread is covering up the mark then chances are your tread is still good. However, if any of the area below the mark is visible it is probably time to replace your tires. If you are not sure you could always check with a tread gauge or seek the advice of a qualified mechanic.

If you have a tire that needs to be replaced you should replace all of your tires at once or else change two either it is two in front or two at the back. You should avoid purchasing one tire at a time because if you do so, all of your tires will be at different stages of tread wear. Also, be sure to check the tire pressure frequently.
Overinflation can cause your tires to wear rapidly in the center and underinflation can cause rapid wear on the outer edges of the tire. Wheels that are out of balance or need alignment will also produce unnecessary wear on your tires. 1) Leakage. That small pool of oil that you see when you move your vehicle from its parking spot in the morning is a sign of trouble. Transmissions can leak from nearly 20 different external seals. Some are very simple to repair, but some require more involved service procedures. Get your vehicle checked by a qualified transmission repair shop because, much like an engine that gets low on oil, a transmission that is low on fluid can fail completely in very short order.
2) Burning smell. A burnt odor can be a sign of a transmission that is overheating or is leaking fluid onto the exhaust. This needs to be addressed immediately- if engine oil or transmission fluid drips onto a hot exhaust it could catch on fire.
3) Check engine light. Today's transmissions are computer controlled and a check engine light can be an indication of a trans problem, even if you don't have a drivability symptom yet. The light comes on to tell you that something is wrong somewhere- listen to it and get your car checked out!

5) Hard shifting and wrong gear starts. This can be done by your vehicle's computer when it detects a transmission fault. The reason for this computer strategy is to let the driver know that there is a problem and to help protect the transmission from further damage while it is "limped" to a shop to be repaired.
6) Transmission Slipping. This is a condition where the engine is revving but full power is not getting to the wheels. Slipping can be caused by a variety of transmission malfunctions- should not be ignored.
7) A neutral condition on fast or brisk acceleration from a stop or when going around a turn. This is a classic sign of a low fluid condition. Remember, unlike an engine where it may be normal for some oil to be consumed over time, if a transmission is low on fluid it is leaking.
8) Delayed drive or reverse. When you notice a delay when you shift the shifter from "D" to "R" or vice versa, it is another sign of a transmission malfunction. These delays can be caused by anything from a low fluid level or a band that is in need of adjustment to an internal transmission seal or clutch pack that is failing. Again, sooner rather than later is the right time to get it checked out.

That's include the machine, tire, suspension, brake, etc. that is absolutely important, but there is another important thing to do. Yup! Fresh your car into exactly like the day before the journey, at least almost the same.

When taking a journey, various dirt attack your car. Start from mud, rain, dust, bug, asphalt, muffler residue from other cars, etc. The same with interior, eat and drink inside the car and stuff that you bring a long with you during the journey have a high possibility to make your car dirty. We can handle it by ourselves if we willing to busy a while after washing the car. Yes, first we need to wash the car so that we can signal the remaining dirt easily.

After long journey, it is common that we bring gift back home. That's it! Various of gift, some may left the dirt or smell. First step use vacuum cleaner, then using brush accompany by interior cleaner to remove stubborn dirt. Last but not least, make sure there is no undesired smell left. Use deodorizer or put drive-out smell product inside the trunk.
Interior
the same with trunk, use vacuum cleaner as the first step.

If your seat using leather, it will be easier because it has smooth pore. Just wipe it using damp rag. Leather and vinyl cleaner also can help you. after that, apply leather conditioner to moist the leather.
Glass Material
Here include the windshield, side glass, back glass, side mirror, front and rear lamp, etc. If it is bug, remove it with bug and tar remover. If it is waterspot, use glass cleaner. For interior side glasses, use dry rag, microfibre is preferable. If the dirt hard to eliminate, use damp hot rag. Make sure the glass is dry and clean so that it will not make new waterspot.

If it doesn't work, use all purpose cleaner. Brush the fabric in the same direction with its fiber. Wipe with damp rag to remove the dirt and use dry rag to finish it. Repeat it several times until the dirt removed completely.
If your seat using leather, it will be easier because it has smooth pore. Just wipe it using damp rag. Leather and vinyl cleaner also can help you. after that, apply leather conditioner to moist the leather.
Glass Material
Here include the windshield, side glass, back glass, side mirror, front and rear lamp, etc. If it is bug, remove it with bug and tar remover. If it is waterspot, use glass cleaner. For interior side glasses, use dry rag, microfibre is preferable. If the dirt hard to eliminate, use damp hot rag. Make sure the glass is dry and clean so that it will not make new waterspot.
Machine
Just use damp rag and dry rag. If it is stubborn dirt, eliminate it using engine degreaser. Never syringe the machine as the machine electrical system susceptible to water.
Tire Part
The same with other parts, use dry rag for velg, you also can apply wax to make it shiny. Polish the side of tire to make it shiny. Never brush underneath body of the car as it will brush out the rustproof. Just wipe it several time. For hard dirt, use raqg and soap.
Car Body
Asphalt is the main dirt. Usually it appears behind the mudguard or fender. Use bug and tar remover to eliminate it. Repeat it until the dirt completely removed. Same treatment for the bug-spot. Use cleaner wax to eliminate water spot and smooth scratch caused by pebble. Note that chrome panel should be dry to prevent waterspot.

Of course we as car owner want our car to be clean and shiny everytime everywhere. But it is common if our daily use car got scratch in its lifetime with us. One of the ways to eliminate the scratch is using the polish method. After that we should do waxing to give perfect treatment. It is because if we do waxing, there will be a thin wax layer on our car’s body to protect the body from the weather and undesired dirt that can damage our car’s paint. Of course if we just want to apply the wax without polishing is also possible, rather than do nothing right? It is recommended to apply the wax in your car minimal once in a month. It is preferable in my opinion to have one spray wax with us because it works efficient in time rather than usual wax. Then let’s go to the shop to buy it, but you will get a little bit confusing because a lot of spray wax product from different manufacturer. Which one will you pick? These are some that I found.

Black Magic Express Spray Wax

Come with the bottle shape and transparent cap. I like this product because it can be apply in either dry or wet condition. There is no need to do buffing because it doesn’t leave the “fog” matter. It gives enough shiny effect to our car.

Stoner Speed Bead

This is my favourite. It needs buffing process but it can remove the dirt like bug and annoying asphalt. It also can make our chrome accessories become shinier. I think the shiny effect on the paint is also better than others.

Turtle Wax Platinum

Turtle Wax well-known for its car detailing product. For this product, Turtle Wax claims that it also can eliminate the minor scratch by filling the wax inside the scratch. I think the shiny effect is about the same with the Black Magic Express Spray Wax.

Mequiar’s Spray Wax

Maybe because its name, I always think that Mequiar’s product is more luxury than others or perhaps the design of the brand make me feel this way. Well, this product needs buffing process to make it perfect. When apply it, it looks like there is and there isn’t. it means that yes! its shiny but not really smooth surface compare to others.

Mequiar’s Quik Wax

This product proud for its organic carnauba substance that believe to be effective in eliminating scratch. After applying the spray wax, it feels like we applying varnish not wax. It just very solid, I cannot find other word that more suitable to describe it. Other plus point is that it hold out longer than other products in our car’s body without reducing the shiny effect. The organic material guarantee that Quik Wax support the “green world” activity and the price is somehow cheaper than others.

Honda brand new small sedan, all new city come to Indonesia

Finally!! This is my first post. Hope will give some information although it's just a piece of cake. Launch in Thailand in 9th of October, finally all new City from Honda come to Indonesia and Indonesian people can feel the ride of it in 2009. I saw it when Honda held the exhibition (I don't have the photo that I take by myself but I will take it from others so you can see how is the brand new Honda City shape). This is the 3rd generation of Honda City. people in Indonesian tend to feel that the 2nd generation of Honda City is like "tailed-Honda Jazz". This make the 2nd generation of Honda City have a little weird vision if I can say (for some of Indonesian people, there is no unique things about it). well, Honda know it, and this time the all new 3rd generation Honda City come with totally different platform and style with the Honda Jazz. For me, it looks awesome. There is no more tiny snout, no more high roof. In my opinion, the front grill of brand new Honda City is like the one on Honda Accord, looks elegant but still sporty. Rear part of the city... I think it looks like the first generation Toyota Vios rear part.
Go to interior, there is no "jazzy" anymore. But still have same feature with Honda Jazz. There are dual airbags, MID, steermatic (the cool part, others small sedan don't have it), head unit integrated withUSB port. When I go to the back seat, the thing that impress me is that it has reclining seat.
Go to Honda City machine part, well it is the same with new Honda Jazz machine with i-vtec 1500cc 120hp. I like this machine!! you know what, when the machine in the body of Honda Jazz, they claim that it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph just in 8.9sec. woah I really like it!! the test drive cannot show its real power because Honda just give a simple test drive. Ah, nothing perfect, in my short time meet with Honda City I feel disappointed with one thing, Honda throw out the side and below cover of its machine, it makes the machine looks cheap and I don't know I just don't like it haha..

Well, one thing that make me curious, how many country have Honda City on its street??
