Turbochargers, Superchargers, Cold Air Intake, Intercoolers - Why Not All Car Manufacturer Apply It?

We know that turbocharger, supercharger, cold air intake/CAI, and intercooler are the technology in which helps our car getting more powers. Some of the technology also improve gas mileage. It is logical as when you have more power in your car, you will able to move the car in less gas pedal press than usual. But this is the condition where you in standard driving mode. If you drive aggressively because the improving power, you will burn your gas faster. And people tend to boost the car to high rpm when they get this technology.
So as we know this is the technology which benefit us, why the car manufacturer don't use it to all of their production car? Is there any bad side that we don't know about this technology? Here is some reasons why they don't put the technology to all car..
- Reduction in cost
manufacturers tend to reducing the cost in producing car. this is become one of the reason because these technology higher the cost significantly.
- Save mileage
Turbo add significant power and horses to your car. But it eat your gas eagerly. Things get worse when the turbo apply without mature calculation.
- Complexity
Turbocharger, supercharger, cold air intake/CAI, and intercooler is a complex technology and turbo add heats a lot to the engine. If your car equip with this technology, you will have more expenses when it comes to have problem with the system and need to fix it.
- Shorter life time
Some of this technology will shorter your car life-time. And if you equip it to your car without mature calculation, it will really harms your car parts.
- Mileage concerning
Almost all new technology require premium gas. And it is not wise when an efficient city car equip with this technology and require the car to consume premium gas except it is limited version for people that eager in technology.
- Material
This technology need higher standard of material compare to normally aspirated engine. the cost of production will double and double and the product will not competitive anymore.
- Not in need
Not all people is speed freak and they want a simple car. People that buy city car or smart for two alike-car clearly tell you they just want economic and efficient car. So manufacturer will have no addition benefit to its selling if they put the technology to such kinds of car.
