Increase the Performance of Your Subaru WRX

Here are some easy tips from Colin R. Hogue (I bet you know him! No? Well.. just pretend what you know is he is friend of mine. That make things easier). This article can be done to generate improved performance for your Subaru WRX next time it appears to be running a bit sluggish. Enjoy..
Change Your Oil (surely! do not forget as it may harm your machine!)
This may seem obvious, but you would be surprised at how easy it is to forget or overlook. The owner's manual for the Subaru WRX suggests changing the oil every 7,500 miles under normal driving conditions. Under normal driving conditions? Seriously, who really drives a Subaru WRX normally? The owner's manual also suggests an oil change every 3,750 if you drive it hard. Enough said. I think we all know which of these recommendations to follow.
Properly Gapped Spark Plugs
The proper spacing for a 2002 - 2003 Subaru WRX is 0.028"-0.031" (0.7-0.8 mm). If you have a different year of Subaru WRX, refer to your owner's manual for proper specs. This tip may seem a bit petty, but any extra power that can be had for free is worth the time and effort.
Clean Your Air Filter
The manufacturer/stock Subaru WRX air filter leaves something to be desired, but if you don't have the extra cash to purchase an aftermarket air filter, please make sure your stock filter is clean. The more air that gets to the engine, the more power you have. Seems simple so far, right?
Use Premium Gasoline
With gas prices being what they are at present, I know that this is a hard-to-swallow tip at this time (Definitely! But when this article goes to my blog, this is the easiest-to-swallow tip at this time, who don't know how much the gas now, really nice for the consumers). Gas is not cheap, and premium gas can never be purchased at a price that makes it a deal, but you are driving a Subaru WRX, afterall (do not get mad Colin, but.. expired! more people nowadays use the premium gas to have a test on his vehicle). So, spring for the good stuff! Your Subaru WRX deserves nothing less than the best.
The next few tips are more involved; however, we are dealing with the Subaru WRX. Extra time and effort results in improved driving performance so it is well worth it.
Try Insulating Your Fuel Lines
Insulating the fuel lines of your Subaru WRX permits the temperature of your fuel to remain cooler which allows more fuel to enter the combustion chamber in addition to permitting more airflow through the chamber as well. Consequently, the more fuel and air that you have moving through the chamber of your Subaru WRX, the more power you will have to work with.
The simplest way to accomplish this is with air conditioning / refrigerator insulation which you can get from any hardware store.
Lose Some Weight of Your Subaru WRX
This is a matter of basic physics. Less weight + more power = better performance. The less weight your WRX has to lug around, the better it will perform in every category. So, take an inventory of what has accumulated in your trunk from time to time and make sure to empty it every so often!
Well that's all I can think of for now. Stay tuned for more tips to improve your Subaru WRX.

(Nice! simple tips, everyone can do it, that's what this blog's main point!)

Pay Attention for Your Car Tire Tread Depth!

Some people don't understand Why we need to check the depth of tire tread. Tire tread is what keeps your tires on the road. When driving in rain or snow, the tread of the tire is designed to throw the water or snow out from underneath the tires so that you do not lose control of your vehicle due to hydroplaning. You should check your tire tread depth every 6,000 to 8,000 miles or if you are using kilometres than it should be 10,000 to 13,000 km. You can check your tire tread depth by using a tread depth gauge for a more accurate measurement or you can perform a quick check by using daily stuff such as needle.
The first and most reliable method is to use a tire tread depth gauge. Once you have obtained a tread depth gauge, just follow the directions for the product to get the instrument ready for measuring. You should check the tread in several places from the outer edge of the tire, to the center, to the opposite outer edge of the tire for an overall reading. The tread should be 2/32 inch (the exact should be 0.0625 inch or else 0.1587 cm) deep or more. If you live in areas where snow is common or you often drive on roads that tend to gather standing water during rainy day, you may want to consider having more tread to help move your tires through the rain or snow.
The second way to check tire tread depth is through the use of daily stuff. Yes, whatever! Take an example, we use a needle. What you need to do is just mark the needle for the depth around 2/32-inch. Then, to check the tread depth with the needle hold the needle with your thumb and index finger. Insert the needle into the grooves between the tread and make sure that you have the sharp point facing you, it is better. If the tread is covering up the mark then chances are your tread is still good. However, if any of the area below the mark is visible it is probably time to replace your tires. If you are not sure you could always check with a tread gauge or seek the advice of a qualified mechanic.
If you have a tire that needs to be replaced you should replace all of your tires at once or else change two either it is two in front or two at the back. You should avoid purchasing one tire at a time because if you do so, all of your tires will be at different stages of tread wear. Also, be sure to check the tire pressure frequently.
Overinflation can cause your tires to wear rapidly in the center and underinflation can cause rapid wear on the outer edges of the tire. Wheels that are out of balance or need alignment will also produce unnecessary wear on your tires. If you have any questions about the cause of the tire wear you should seek the advice of a qualified mechanic.

Warning Signs in Automatic Transmission

When you are reading this article, maybe you are the one who suspect that something is amiss with the automatic transmission in your car. Take my advice, it is far better to address these problems early on than to let them evolve into a serious transmission failure.
Automatic transmission is one of the complex machinery in your vehicle. Here are the 8 most common problems that have been observed by transmission repair specialists over the years. These are the early warning signs that you need to look out for:
1) Leakage. That small pool of oil that you see when you move your vehicle from its parking spot in the morning is a sign of trouble. Transmissions can leak from nearly 20 different external seals. Some are very simple to repair, but some require more involved service procedures. Get your vehicle checked by a qualified transmission repair shop because, much like an engine that gets low on oil, a transmission that is low on fluid can fail completely in very short order.
2) Burning smell. A burnt odor can be a sign of a transmission that is overheating or is leaking fluid onto the exhaust. This needs to be addressed immediately- if engine oil or transmission fluid drips onto a hot exhaust it could catch on fire.
3) Check engine light. Today's transmissions are computer controlled and a check engine light can be an indication of a trans problem, even if you don't have a drivability symptom yet. Modern automobile computers are extremely sensitive and can detect a transmission slip or malfunction that would be imperceptible to the driver. The light comes on to tell you that something is wrong somewhere- listen to it and get your car checked out!
4) Shaking. Sometimes a shaking or bucking sensation is experienced, especially at highway speeds. Sometimes this may be an issue of poor engine tune, but it could also be a malfunction in the transmission. Take it to an expert that can tell the difference and diagnose it for you.
5) Hard shifting and wrong gear starts. A hard shift or wrong gear start either by itself or in conjunction with a check engine light may be a sign that your transmission is in a computer commanded "failsafe" or "limp home" mode. This can be done by your vehicle's computer when it detects a transmission fault. The reason for this computer strategy is to let the driver know that there is a problem and to help protect the transmission from further damage while it is "limped" to a shop to be repaired.
6) Transmission Slipping. This is a condition where the engine is revving but full power is not getting to the wheels. Slipping can be caused by a variety of transmission malfunctions- should not be ignored.
7) A neutral condition on fast or brisk acceleration from a stop or when going around a turn. This is a classic sign of a low fluid condition. Remember, unlike an engine where it may be normal for some oil to be consumed over time, if a transmission is low on fluid it is leaking.
8) Delayed drive or reverse. When you notice a delay when you shift the shifter from "D" to "R" or vice versa, it is another sign of a transmission malfunction. These delays can be caused by anything from a low fluid level or a band that is in need of adjustment to an internal transmission seal or clutch pack that is failing. Again, sooner rather than later is the right time to get it checked out.

Paying attention to and addressing your vehicle's small problems before they turn into larger ones can often help you to avoid costly transmission repairs.

A Glance About Car Headlight

Substitute the lamp with higher voltage is the easiest way to increase the light intensity. The disadvantage is increasing headlamp temperature can cause your plastic-glass material headlamp become paler. The same problem if you substitute the standard lamp with HID. The temperature will increase to around 70 Celcius (158 Fahrenheit).
Booster can be second alternative to increase the light intensity. It works by increasing the electricity flow to the headlight, brighter your standard halogen lamp. But the disadvantage is the life time of the lamp will be shorter.
The color of the headlight is determined by color temperatures shown using temperature unit Kelvin (K). Standard halogen lamp in 2,800K; 4,250K is HID (yellow); 6,500K is HID (white); 9,000K is HID (blue); and 13,000K is HID (purple).

Chrome Accessories!! Uplift Your Ride With Ease

Your lovely car is come from manufacturer that produce car in great quantities. It doesn't matter what type of road warrior you are. But everyone has a reason why they love their car and want it to different with others. There is exclusive car that produce only in limited quantities but costly. Choosing the right chrome accessories for your vehicle is a great way to rediscover what was so special about it. There is a lot of aftermarket accessories but with wrong decision, your spending cannot fulfill what you want. Chrome gives you the ability to make a luxury ride appear even more elegant and help a racing model reflect even more aggressive. Or simply elevate your "plain" family sedan into a blustery new world of custom enjoyment. Chrome accessories are an absolute treasure for those who are wishing to explore their ride's flashier side without swiping their plastic down to a nub.
Not only is chrome trim cost-effective, but it also adds a nice flourish of class to most any ride very, very quickly. Every vehicle could use a splash of chrome here or there to give it a little edge. Thus, it all comes down to deciding where to put the chrome accessories that make the stylish difference you're looking for.
Chrome trim actually refers to a wide variety of products that are either chrome-plated or coated in chrome. Normally, these products are comprised of stainless steel or high-yielding ABS plastic with chrome added on later. One of chrome's biggest strengths is its versatility. Kind of like wearing black, white, or beige, chrome goes with everything. So there is no need to worry about a "match." Chrome accessories are there to enhance your vehicle's personality and draw more life out of it.
Chrome Trim = Options
Chrome accessories come in different shapes and sizes, each designed to outline a specific area of your ride. Pillar posts are actually extremely popular pieces of chrome trim that adhere to the spacing between the windows of your doors. Instead of sealant (ugh!) or the original body color providing the gap between your side-view windows, pillar posts unveil a dynamic brushstroke of gleaming chrome-plated stainless steel. Many cars are "hooked up" with chrome pillar posts at car shows and exhibitions primarily because they elicit such a visually stimulating image.
Another hot commodity is chrome mirror covers. Mirror covers are perhaps one of the more important chrome upgrades because they play a vital role in upping the style on what is really a very underestimated part of your vehicle. Chrome door handles are a delightfully easy way to spruce things up in a hurry and add a sprinkle of luxury to your doors. Like most chrome accessories, door handles just stick right on, and are ready to go in moments.
Nowadays, there are countless avenues drivers can explore. Taillight bezels, fender trim, gas caps, hood accents, and pedals are all viable options for even the most savvy of auto consumers. Any one of these items can upgrade your car visually, and you shouldn't take that lightly. Most reputable chrome trim manufacturers, like Putco® or QAA include specialized 3M adhesive backings on each chrome product. This is a huge advantage, as this automotive adhesive allows for lightening-fast installation as well as concrete fitment that lasts longer than you will even own your car.

Optimize Your Car Headlamp

Light is very important for us. How we can see objects depend on how much light intensity available. Headlight very important for driving at night, that's why we need to take care of headlamp performance to its peak condition. Get tired faster when we drive at night is one of the dim headlight problem. It cause limited vision, people need to be more concentrate on the road. for sure, the side effect is people will get exhausted faster. We need to put some effort to optimize the work of headlamp. When you notice dim headlight, that is the time to take action.
Usually the main problem is grounding system especially for the car that have more than 5 years life-time. People tend to buy relay aftermarket to solve this problem. The theory is relay shorter electricity way to the headlight, it gets electricity directly from the accu without having direct connection to interior switch. Using this way, we can omit electrical resistance of old cable because this is the main problem of dim headlight.
Dirty glass headlamp become dim headlight 2nd reason. Of course, wash the glass is the way to solve it. Make sure the glass dry enough so it will not appear "fog" problem in the future use. If your glass headlamp from plastic-glass material, it may be damage cause by dirt or overheat if you ever change the lamp to higher voltage.
And the last possibility is reflector damage. If this happens, buy new headlamp is recommended. You can re-chrome the reflector but usually what you pay for the re-chrome is about the same with the cost to buy new headlamp.

How to Care Your Car Tire

Car's tire is the only contact point between the car and the road. So however the engine of the car performs, it highly rely on the tire. Keeping the tire in good condition will lead to safe driving and optimum performance of the car. Believe it or not, through the tire, we also can save more mileage in our journey because good condition tire support efficiency in mileage consumption. so here is some tips you can use to keep that "rounded-thing" always in its good condition:
1. Check your car tire pressures regularly. It is recommended to check it at least once a week. enough pressures of the tire will make your car machine works efficiently thus improve the mileage consumption. It claims that fuel consumption can be improved by 10%.
Note that over pressures for your car tire will damage your tire faster because it will decrease the contact point between the tire and the road. The tire accelerate using the center of the thread, all the tension focus on that point that become the reason of the tire damage faster.
Less pressures tire will damage faster than over pressures tire because too much contact point to the road lead to higher operating temperature, this can cause rapid wear of the tread shoulders. The condition worse if you drive long trip in high speed. the tire has high possibility to blow-out because of its over high temperature.
2. Always carry a spare. It is not a legal requirement but you'll be thankful you have one when a tire gets a puncture in a remote location. If using a compact spare tire remember not to exceed 50 mph and replace it at the earliest opportunity. Always check the spare whether it is in ready-use condition and put its pressures a little bit higher than others.
3. Check the car tires for any unusual bulges or lumps as these are often a sign of internal damage. Inspect the tread and sidewall rubber for any signs of cracking as this can cause the tire blow-out.
4. Keep the tire valves clean and always remember to replace the dust cap.
5. Avoid driving over of potholes (holes on the road). The extra flexing of the rubber will faster the damage of the tire.
6. Remove any stones and other objects embedded in a car tire's tread. If you find a nail do not remove it as the tire will rapidly deflate. Instead take the tire to a specialist who may be able to repair the puncture.
7. Keep the car in a garage if it is possible. Weather exposure causes cracking on the car tires of vehicles kept outside. if it is impossible, routinely apply the tire wax to the sidewall of the tires as it can moist it and reduce the crack possibility.
8. Take care when using a pressure washer as it can cause damage to a tire's sidewall. Only use at a safe distance.
9. Try to replace all four tires at the same time. If this is not possible replace either the two front or the two back tires together. It will prevent uneven wear which can affect the vehicle's handling.
10. Consult a car tire specialist before replacing a tire. They will advise on the right choice of tire according to your car's make, your budget and your driving circumstances. It is recommended to use exactly the same size of the previous tire so that it will match your velg and the mile count on the speedometer will stay accurate.

Pick me!! Car Instant Shine Spray Wax

Of course we as car owner want our car to be clean and shiny everytime everywhere. But it is common if our daily use car got scratch in its lifetime with us. One of the ways to eliminate the scratch is using the polish method. After that we should do waxing to give perfect treatment. It is because if we do waxing, there will be a thin wax layer on our car’s body to protect the body from the weather and undesired dirt that can damage our car’s paint. Of course if we just want to apply the wax without polishing is also possible, rather than do nothing right? It is recommended to apply the wax in your car minimal once in a month. It is preferable in my opinion to have one spray wax with us because it works efficient in time rather than usual wax. Then let’s go to the shop to buy it, but you will get a little bit confusing because a lot of spray wax product from different manufacturer. Which one will you pick? These are some that I found.

Black Magic Express Spray Wax

Come with the bottle shape and transparent cap. I like this product because it can be apply in either dry or wet condition. There is no need to do buffing because it doesn’t leave the “fog” matter. It gives enough shiny effect to our car.

Stoner Speed Bead

This is my favourite. It needs buffing process but it can remove the dirt like bug and annoying asphalt. It also can make our chrome accessories become shinier. I think the shiny effect on the paint is also better than others.

Turtle Wax Platinum

Turtle Wax well-known for its car detailing product. For this product, Turtle Wax claims that it also can eliminate the minor scratch by filling the wax inside the scratch. I think the shiny effect is about the same with the Black Magic Express Spray Wax.

Mequiar’s Spray Wax

Maybe because its name, I always think that Mequiar’s product is more luxury than others or perhaps the design of the brand make me feel this way. Well, this product needs buffing process to make it perfect. When apply it, it looks like there is and there isn’t. it means that yes! its shiny but not really smooth surface compare to others.

Mequiar’s Quik Wax

This product proud for its organic carnauba substance that believe to be effective in eliminating scratch. After applying the spray wax, it feels like we applying varnish not wax. It just very solid, I cannot find other word that more suitable to describe it. Other plus point is that it hold out longer than other products in our car’s body without reducing the shiny effect. The organic material guarantee that Quik Wax support the “green world” activity and the price is somehow cheaper than others.

Honda brand new small sedan, all new city come to Indonesia

Finally!! This is my first post. Hope will give some information although it's just a piece of cake. Launch in Thailand in 9th of October, finally all new City from Honda come to Indonesia and Indonesian people can feel the ride of it in 2009. I saw it when Honda held the exhibition (I don't have the photo that I take by myself but I will take it from others so you can see how is the brand new Honda City shape). This is the 3rd generation of Honda City. people in Indonesian tend to feel that the 2nd generation of Honda City is like "tailed-Honda Jazz". This make the 2nd generation of Honda City have a little weird vision if I can say (for some of Indonesian people, there is no unique things about it). well, Honda know it, and this time the all new 3rd generation Honda City come with totally different platform and style with the Honda Jazz. For me, it looks awesome. There is no more tiny snout, no more high roof. In my opinion, the front grill of brand new Honda City is like the one on Honda Accord, looks elegant but still sporty. Rear part of the city... I think it looks like the first generation Toyota Vios rear part.
Go to interior, there is no "jazzy" anymore. But still have same feature with Honda Jazz. There are dual airbags, MID, steermatic (the cool part, others small sedan don't have it), head unit integrated withUSB port. When I go to the back seat, the thing that impress me is that it has reclining seat.
Go to Honda City machine part, well it is the same with new Honda Jazz machine with i-vtec 1500cc 120hp. I like this machine!! you know what, when the machine in the body of Honda Jazz, they claim that it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph just in 8.9sec. woah I really like it!! the test drive cannot show its real power because Honda just give a simple test drive. Ah, nothing perfect, in my short time meet with Honda City I feel disappointed with one thing, Honda throw out the side and below cover of its machine, it makes the machine looks cheap and I don't know I just don't like it haha..

Well, one thing that make me curious, how many country have Honda City on its street??
